Being a single mum, a career wasn’t something I thought I could have, I always put my son first. But I had been through some changes in my life, and I wanted to do something for myself now he was older. Stability is important to me. I had been in my previous job for 15 years, but when covid hit, I found myself in a new job that was unfulfilling. I knew I could do more but there was no room for progression, so I started looking for something else.
By chance, I mention to my ex-colleague Lauren that I was thinking on making some changes, and she started to tell me about her new job with MDH Recruitment. It sounded amazing, exactly the kind of company and people I wanted to work with. But at this point, MDH was just starting out, and there were no vacancies available. I knew in my gut though that this was where I was going to end up. It was a company where I could make my mark and help it grow. It offered a work life balance as well as genuine career progression.
I kept the faith and stayed in my job. Christmas was around the corner, and I couldn’t see any jobs I wanted to apply for. I was comparing them all to MDH.
Christmas came and went, and I decided “New Year, New Job” now was the time! So, I reached out to Lauren again, and she said there may be a position of an Account Manager available for a major client. This sparked my interest because I love dealing with people on a personal level and being out and about. It was the opportunity I had been waiting for, so I grabbed it with both hands! I met with Gordon, and he told me more about the role. Within a fortnight, I started with MDH. It was daunting. I had no previous experience in recruitment, but Gordon and Lauren were always there to support and guide me and made it an easy transition for me.
Now, I have more colleagues working for me to help service my client’s account.
I genuinely love my job. It’s a great working environment where we all feel comfortable voicing our ideas, and the management listen. I am in control of my own working week, which allows me to spend time with my son.
So, if you are considering a career in recruitment, I would recommend joining our team at MDH Recruitment.
And I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to Lauren for connecting me with this opportunity, and a massive thanks for Gordon for taking a chance on me!!
